I'm not particularly fond of conspiracy theories but I'm not believer in coincidences, so what are the chances of an older story getting 50 votes a day for the last couple of days? Go figure. The most boring and logical explanation is the decision by some reader(s) to systematically screw up the voting system on my stories if not others.

And while you're there, have a read!
But only if you're up to the challenge LOL

Mixture of Emotions
This week has been a roller coaster of emotions. The attacks back in England brought sadness and some measure of anger. Seriously, why are we busy killing each other when we've got so many problems plaguing the human race?
The usual negativity from the haters to the latest story post was slightly depressing. Then again, it was nothing new and as long as I know I'm doing right, I'm tossing them on the pile of trolls. More on it later.
Work is hectic but going well thus far. And ideas are still surfacing faster than I can deal with them lol. Also enjoying a friend's new stories along with some sweeties. More specifically, a glutinous rice and lotus paste dumpling and a Beard Papa custard puff :D Yums!
And now for some updates on two issues: Destroying Fantasies Part 1 and the conclusion of The Story Of a Button. Destroying Fantasies Part 1 was removed by the site admins because the author of the original story complained and didn't like me "screwing with the characters".
I respect the site admin's decision though frankly, if the case was pursued legally, I am on sound ground. For more on the Destroying Fantasies saga, read this. Those interested in the story, I will post it on a blog site soon, so watch this space.
As for the challenge to write the conclusion to TSOAB, I have to admit the trolls really lived up to expectations. All the bellyaching about loopholes and how the story can only have one ending ~ eyeroll ~ maybe it's my bad because I should have said this challenge is not for the fainthearted or trolls lacking the requisite creativity to see their way round the "loopholes", "dead end" and "vague details" to a conclusion. And frankly my dear trolls... (fill in the blanks, hint: think Rhett Butler) LOL Have fun people!

Exhausting But Fun!
Apologies to readers who have had to endure a long silence. Was surrounded by events and work in the last two weeks. See mini summary below!

And a guest role in a "saga":
http://eroftasy.blogspot.com/2017/03/reaction-to-vitriolic-response_19.html
Completed a plot outline for part of a story I'm writing with a friend. To me, it sounds great, not sure if my story partner thinks so too! LOL
Still chipping away at two stories, including one which has an open invitation to a story hackathon. LOL Well, I do believe in putting my money where my mouth is 😏
At least 6 other stories on the backburner and a possible new job - busy times!

While I was away
Hope readers haven't completely given up on me. I've been largely MIA because of health issues and a bout of anger/depression. The short of it: I allowed some relative stranger's behaviour get to me. Allowed would be the right word because if you don't allow jerks to get to you, they can't get to you. Anyway, this particular person basically asked what I wrote and I answered honestly "erotica", there was a follow up request for an example. In response, I sent a link for a free ebook and then received the response that really set me off: He said he wasn't going to read such crap.
Why ask for an example if you're not going to read it? And why slam something as crap when you haven't even read it?
I think what angered me was the fact that I specifically advise writers I work with at my day job that the best thing to do is ignore such people. I stopped the conversation cold right there. The upshot? The other party is apparently a writer himself.
Message to fellow writers and readers out there:
It's your prerogative to read what you like and avoid what you don't. You're also entitled to your opinion after you've actually read something. What you're not entitled to is the right to dismiss a certain genre as crap, particularly when you haven't even read a sample.
I chose to write erotica. Not because I couldn't write anything else. It's precisely because I've done almost every type (articles, opinion pieces etc) and genre of writing out there that I tried this frontier. If readers genuinely dislike the genre, I respect their opinion and their choice of another genre or source. What I ask is simple: Just as I respect others' opinions, I hope they show similar respect my choices and what I write.
Moving away from that, I'm in the middle of three separate storylines, one being an updated Othello, another a sci-fi short and a third a LW original. When I say three story lines, I'm not dismissing the others which are constant WIP. Still, if anything happens to me, I'm hoping some friends of mine will take care of the rest of my stories. I thank them in advance here!
Having said that, I'm not planning to check out of earthly life anytime soon. Check this space soon!

Of Painkillers, Sunflower Crackers & MMA
So, in the continuing saga that is my latest story- it's kinda crawling along. I know I need to rewrite a fair bit but inertia is about the best word for me right now. If I were to be prone to whinging, it would be uhh, whyeeeeeee?!
I blame the painkillers, I'm so dosed up with painkillers that thankfully I'm not feeling the constant pain -yay- but the downside is the tendency to just do ...nothing..
And I've run out of my favourite sunflower crackers. Didn't realise they only imported them for the Chinese New Year festive season - darn. Even scoured online sites and found ... you guessed it .. nothing...
And in a second job in a row, I've found myself surprised by an MMA enthusiast colleague. And they surprised me in similar ways. Ok, this guy is taller but my former colleague was a girl who was shorter than me and considerably lighter. This guy is, as far as I remember, pretty light on his feet, can't tell if he's ripped but he carries off that tight shirt look pretty well, hey, I wasn't perving but he was standing not more than 2 inches from me so pretty hard not to look. Anyway, completely went against the stereotypical MMA mode that I've always thought was typical. Anyway, he's gonna teach colleagues MMA so I'm just gonna enjoy the demo. I'm not delusional enough to join in and get my ass kicked. After all, the last time I was in a combat sport was almost as long ago as I've studied Physics - I remember all the dirty jokes but not the formulas LOL
Gotta try to get in shape even if it sounds as impossible as me winning the lottery but guess there's no harm trying huh?!
P.S. Originally intended to stick a picture of a cookie here, but found this pic of an MMA fighter in this part of the world. So ladies, here's your drool treat haha! Apparently, he's an American finance guy who came over to Asia to be an MMA fighter. Whatever his name is, hope he's not wilting in the heat. And no, I don't claim to own any rights to the pic, this was from Pinterest.
Update: Sorry, didn't mean to disrespect the guy, so googled and found his name, the guy in the pic is Jake Butler. LOL have a feeling some of my author friends will be writing erotica with that name.

All Tapped Out
Writing is like being in labour. Ok, that's what I've heard in any case. Since I haven't been in labour before, I'm not entirely sure the analogy is appropriate. The process of my struggles with my latest story is as close an experience with pregnancy as I'm getting so far in my 30+ years of life. In a way, the feeling of being pretty sure about the storyline, but feeling conflicted and enervated kind of reflects my conflicted feelings about having kids.
As I've said to friends, I do want kids, just not quite the other things that seem to accompany the said kids. I wanted kids with my ex fiancé but not the marriage, so basically we disagreed on a fundamental point. He wanted marriage but not necessarily kids, he was willing to compromise if he had to. We never really talked about it, there were endless arguments but not any real discussion. And while it wasn't the ultimate trigger that broke the relationship, it was a big factor.
Same thing with the story I'm writing right now. It started off as an obsession with the storyline and the intolerable selfishness and lack of remorse on the part of the cheating wife. And yes, there's a pattern to what triggers me :P Then as I got progressively mired in conflict about which ending I wanted, the process just started to frustrate me. It was like a baby who refused to come out. Right now, I just want to finish the damn thing. I apologise to my beta readers who're probably smiling patiently and putting up with a cranky writer - sorry and love y'all!
Think Meša Selimović put it quite nicely in The Fortress: The listener is the midwife in the difficult birth of the word. Or, still more important — if he desires to understand.
