Specifically, the greed of a scientist seeking to enrich himself by selling the synthesized version of Botulinum neurotoxin he’d created with the help of his trusty laboratory technician. The same scientist who, increasingly alarmed by the emotional instability of said technician, subsequently replaced the vials (he’d agreed to give the technician) with highly-diluted samples. He’d even thrown in a vial of the anti-toxin he’d crafted for the buyer to the lot given to the technician. Of course, it helped that my loving wife had retrieved the anti-toxin when her accomplice tossed it.
